The Theme: “YOUTH EMPOWERMENT: MAKING IT HAPPEN”

Dates: March 18th – 20th, 2018

About The Conference
Young people constitute the majority of most people in developing countries especially in Africa. It is reported that the population below the age 30 in most developing countries is about 70%. It is the developing countries that require more resources to transform from developing to developed and yet these are the countries without resources. This means that many young people will be deprived of high quality life because their respective economies cannot afford to give it to them. If young people do not have a high standard of living they will turn to crime and because they are idle, they are likely to get involved in acceptable behaviours including alcoholism, drug abuse and for the girls it may lead into unwanted pregnancies. It is important that strategies are evolved to contain the challenge that emerges from idle unproductive youth.

The strategies include identification of the actual problems that both youth and society face as a result of this idleness. We must also idleness solutions. The 8th annual youth conference is intended to cause a discussion of the challenges faced by the youth and to generate solutions. This conference will be run under the theme: “Youth empowerment: Making it happen”

This theme will focus on ascertaining the challenges and generating possible solutions to them. Among the sub

• The youth in slums, challenges and solutions
• Taking the mantle of leadership: how youth can lead the future”
• Teenage pregnancies: getting rid of unwanted children
• Getting young people to work: the role of entrepreneurship
• Driving transformation through IT
